Summary: The new mobile backup feature in Lion creates hard links in /.MobileBackups to files on the parent volume. procmail thinks that a /var/mail folder with more than one hard link is bogus, and will rename it, emitting the following message: Renaming bogus mailbox "/var/mail/XXX" info "/var/mail/BOGUS.XXX.NG9lB" Steps to Reproduce: * Enable Time Machine * Make a mobile backup using "tmutil snapshot" * Run procmail with an empty config and no input: "procmail /dev/null < /dev/null" Expected Results: * The user mailbox, /var/mail/USERNAME, is left alone Actual Results: * procmail prints the bogus mailbox message, and the user mailbox, /var/mail/USERNAME, is renamed Regression: Notes: * I validated that the issue was caused by /.MobileBackups by running: sudo find -samefile /var/mail/USERNAME /.MobileBackups * It should be possible to patch procmail such that it no longer thinks a multiply-hardlinked /var/mail/USERNAME is bogus.
