NSPathControl showing a Folder Icon for a Volume

For a reason I totally can't determine, it seems sometimes the "Pop Up" style NSPathControl displays a Folder instead of a Drive Icon. You can use https://github.com/stuffmc/SandPath to test it.

Sandbox bug
I am getting something similar (though I'm using the standard style instead of pop up). It appears the control can't look up pretty icons. Are you seeing a denial like
