27-Dec-2011 11:05 AM Andrew Norman:
Summary:

Adding two playlists in a row leaves UI in confused state

Steps to Reproduce:

Open Music app
Add a new playlist, call it "A"
Add a couple of tracks to the new playlist
Tap the "Done" in the top right hand corner of the screen

Add a second playlist, call it "B"

Expected Results:

The UI should be in a clean state and the "Done" button should work and return you from the playlist creation mode.

Actual Results:

The UI is not in a clean state. The list of tracks still shows that the tracks you added to playlist "A" are already added to playlist "B" (they are not actually added to "B").

If you then add some tracks to "B", the "Done" button does not become successfully enabled. If you tap on "Done" nothing happens, the UI does not exit the playlist creation mode.

Regression:

Notes:

First observed in iOS 5.0 on a 4th gen iPod Touch. Confirmed on an iPhone 4S running iOS 5.01

Has been 100% reproducible on the devices I've tried it on.

Further details after a request from Apple dev

20-Jan-2012 03:25 PM Andrew Norman: I have tested against 5.1 beta 3 on an iPhone 4S and the issue still occurs.

I have an extra bit of information. It seems like the problem only occurs if the tracks being added are being added from certain sources. If I choose to add the tracks to the playlist from the Songs section, the problem is not reproducible, the UI behaves as expected.

However if I choose to add the tracks from an existing playlist, from an album or from within the Artists section then the problem is still reproducible (the same applies to Compilation, Podcasts and Composers sections).

20-Jun-2012 07:43 AM Andrew Norman: This appears to be fixed in iOS 6 beta 1, tested on a 4th gen iPod touch.

I had feared the feature was just going to go away, like it has in the Music app on iPad. So good job ;-)

This issue has been verified as resolved and can be closed.
