| Classification: | Crash/Hang | Reproducible: | Always |
Summary:
Xcode 4.3 hangs and than crashes on app startup. It looks to be caused by a file somewhere on the file system that starts with a '~'. I had two attachments in my Mailboxes folder that started with a '~'.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have a file that starts with a '~' somewhere on your HD.
2. Launch Xcode 4.3.
3. Xcode hangs for about 6-7 minutes. Beach ball or main window with spinner.
4. Crash
Expected Results:
Don't hang or crash.
Actual Results:
Attached crash with the following assertion:
ASSERTION FAILURE in /SourceCache/DVTFoundation/DVTFoundation-1188/Framework/Classes/FilePaths/DVTFilePath.m:323
Details: fsrep is absolute (starts with tilde) ('~WRD000.jpg') parentPath must be nil but it is not ('<DVTFilePath:0x40aa52ca0:'/Users/emartin/Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes/Other Employees.mbox/0CBB35BC-996B-4B50-8627-06CAFE33E31C/Data/7/1/Attachments/17310/2'>')

Regression:
Notes:
- Deleting com.apple.*Xcode*.plist files in ~/Library/Preferences had no effect.
- Deleting the user workspace of my last project had no effect.
- Repairing permissions in Disk Utility had no effect.
- Rebooting the machine had no effect.
- Xcode continued to crash on each startup until I manually delete the files that start with '~' mentioned in the crash report.
