Messages.app keyboard shortcut interferes with text deletion

Summary:
When using Command-Delete to backspace an entire line in the text box attempts to delete the entire conversation instead. This cannot be remapped in Settings > Keyboard for some reason.

Steps to Reproduce:
Press Command-Delete while typing in the Messages text box

Expected Results:
The line of text is deleted

Actual Results:
The entire conversation is deleted (there's a prompt, so it doesn't get deleted right away)

Notes:
Come on, guys! How did this slip through the cracks?
