For Facebook/iCloud linked contacts, Messages switches to MMS

Summary:
When creating a new message to a Facebook-linked contact, Messages switches to MMS and automatically selects the outgoing address. 

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start a New Message
2. Tap the + icon, add Person #1 that is a Linked Contact of iCloud and Facebook.

Expected Results:
I expected to be able to select the phone number of Person #1 and for the message to remain SMS.

Actual Results:
Messages chose the phone number or email address of Person #1 and changed the title of the window to "New MMS". I cannot tell what address or phone number that Person #1 will receive the message at.

Workaround:
1. Start a New Message
2. Start typing Person #1's name, select phone number from suggestions.

Notes:

My settings for Messages is:
iMessage ON
Send Read Receipts OFF
Send as SMS ON
MMS Messaging ON
Group Messaging OFF
Show Subject Field OFF
Character Count ON
