30-Jan-2013 02:18 PM Greg Neagle: Summary: /usr/bin/profiles refuses to install user-level profiles for network users Steps to Reproduce: Make a user-level configuration profile to configure Mail, Contacts, Calendar, or Messages. Login as a network user. From the command-line: /usr/bin/profiles -I -F /path/to/profile.mobileconfig Expected Results: Profile is installed and application is configured. Actual Results: profiles.AddAProfile user cannot be found in local DS profiles install for file:'/path/to/profile' and user:'redacted' returned -4570 (The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error -4570.)) Regression: Notes: This issue does NOT occur when installing profiles manually in the GUI. This same profile installs fine when double-clicked; the Profiles preference pane installs the profile and the app is configured.

I believe this has been fixed in OS X 10.9.
Ran into the same issue, but this didn't reproduce on Mavericks.
