Combining Enclosing characters don't work properly in Pages

Summary: In Pages v4.3, using COMBINING ENCLOSING SQUARE doesn't actually enclose the adjacent character. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Type the character to be enclosed (in my case, it was simply the letter X). 2. Using the Special Characters palette, insert a COMBINING ENCLOSING SQUARE. Expected Results: The X should be enclosed in the square. Actual Results: It's not. Regression: It works in TextEdit. Notes: See the attached screen capture to see the differences between TextEdit and Pages.
