-constraintsAffectingLayoutForAxis: doesn't work if view not part of a window

-[NSLayoutConstraint constraintsAffectingLayoutForAxis:] is useful to debug constraints. However, if a specific view hierarchy is not in the subview hierarchy of a window, it returns just an empty array. Offscreen views with constraints are not an academic case but actually quite useful. I'm using offscreen TableViewCells just for calculating the cell height when requested by – tableView:heightForRowAtIndexPath:.
