Summary: While using the xcodebuild too to build a workspace that includes xib source files, ibtool will crash at random times. Random as in, 1. Not at the same xib every time 2. Not crash every time Looking at the crash log, can see a dispatch queue associated with it. Under the activity monitor, I can see 8 processes of ibtool. Steps to Reproduce: Even though I have a project that depicts this behaviour, I haven't been able to narrow the crash down to a reproducible case. Expected Results: To gracefully handle the exception and provide a compiler error with a possible fix. Actual Results: ** BUILD FAILED ** The following build commands failed: CompileXIB [name of the xib] (1 failure) Command /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/usr/bin/ibtool failed with exit code 255-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version: Xcode 5.0.2 Build version 5A3005 OS X 10.9.1 (13B42) Notes: Same problem under Xcode this time rdar://15871561"ibtool randomly crashes with exit code 255 from within Xcode" Configuration: -sdk iphonesimulator -configuration Debug Attachments: 'ibtoold_2014-01-21-170317_beast.crash' and 'Interface Builder Cocoa Touch Tool_2014-01-21-170317_beast.crash' were successfully uploaded.
