Originator:rquick
Number:rdar://16729798 Date Originated:25-Apr-2014
Status:Closed Resolved:No
Product:Developer Tools Product Version:5.1.1 (5B1008)
Classification:Other Bug Reproducible:Yes

Summary:
When you create a default Instruments Automation script for iOS and run it without making any changes, you receive the following error:

Path not found '/Users/jonathan_morgan/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/lkj-efnmzqijwdkcixghgjaokmivpnnx/Build/Products/Release-iphonesimulator/lkj.app/lkj'

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Xcode
2. Start Xcode
3. Create a new project
4. Select iOS -> Application
5. Click "Empty Application “
6. Click “Next"
7. Enter Product Name and Company Identifier
8. Click “Next"
9. Click “Create"
10. Select Xcode -> Open Developer Tool -> Instruments
11. Select iOS -> All -> Automation
12. Click “Choose”
13. The default script contains just one line, "var target = UIATarget.localTarget();”
14. Click the run arrow below the script.
15. The alert pops up with the following alert: Path not found '/Users/jonathan_morgan/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/lkj-efnmzqijwdkcixghgjaokmivpnnx/Build/Products/Release-iphonesimulator/lkj.app/lkj'

Expected Results:
I did not expect anything to happen because nothing was changed in the script I was attempting to run.

Actual Results:
I received an alert with the following error:

Path not found '/Users/jonathan_morgan/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/lkj-efnmzqijwdkcixghgjaokmivpnnx/Build/Products/Release-iphonesimulator/lkj.app/lkj'

I do not have any user accounts on my system so I should not have an issue for the user Jonathan Morgan. Also, I don't believe the initial script should cause an error.

Version:
Instruments 5.1.1 (55045)
Xcode Version 5.1.1 (5B1008)
OS X Version 10.9.2 (13C1021)
