Summary: This is a bizarre crash that costed me 10 hours to track down. It is caused by assigning a string derived from [uppercaseStringWithLocale:[NSLocale autoupdatingCurrentLocale]] to a label in a auto-layouted UITableViewHeaderFooterView. In my test, it only occurs on 64-bit iOS 7. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Launch sample app. 2. Tap any cell. 3. Navigate back. 4. Repeat 2~3 until you see the crash. 5. #define USE_AUTOUPDATING_LOCALE 0 and repeat 1~4 to see the crash go away. 6. Or, #define USE_AUTOLAYOUT 0 and repeat 1~4 to see the crash go away. Expected Results: No crash. Actual Results: Crash. Version: iOS 7 Notes: Configuration: 64-bit devices or simulator Sample project: http://cl.ly/111i3j2I1Z3G
