Summary: The "What's New in iOS Notifications" session at WWDC 2014 announced two changes to APNs: 1. The maximum payload length has been increased from 256 bytes to 2048 bytes 2. A "category" field is now allowed in the "aps" section of the payload Although the "Local and Remote Notification Programming Guide" was updated on September 17, 2014, it does not reflect either change at this time. The new payload length limit appears to have been updated, but there is still no documentation of the
categoryfield.It appears that the "Local and Remote Notification Programming Guide" has been updated to document the
title,title-loc-key, andtitle-loc-argsfields introduced in iOS 8.2, but still does not include the changes introduced at WWDC 2014.
