Scroll-to-zoom broken on Yosemite

Summary:
I use the scroll-whilst-holding-ctrl to zoom in on things *all the time* and it is nearly unusable on Yosemite while an external monitor is plugged in. Using "Full Screen" zoom mode. Scrolling is delayed and it drops frames like crazy.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use your awesome Retina MacBook Pro 15" (Early 2013)
2. Plug in a 20" Apple Cinema Display
3. Try to scroll-whilst-holding-ctrl to zoom

Expected Results:
Smoothly zoom in on something.

Actual Results:
Terrible, awful jankiness and existential dread.
