Summary: Spotlight indexing never completes on NFS home directories. system.log shows mds[33]: (Syndication.Warning:91) Couldn't dearchive index from '/home/students/hmc_2015/samhill/.Spotlight-V100/Store-V2/archived-index.mds' (-1) mds[33]: (DiskStore.Warning:967) MLMailFlagsFixUp repair issued for 0 items mds[33]: (DiskStore.Warning:967) MLMailReadFixUp repair issued for 0 items mds[33]: (Syndication.Warning:91) Couldn't dearchive index from '/home/students/hmc_2015/samhill/.Spotlight-V100/Store-V2/archived-index.mds' (-1) Starting indexing again using "mdutil -E /path/to/home" results in many error messages similar to kernel[0]: Sandbox: mdworker(86318) deny file-read-data /home/students/hmc_2015/samhill/Library/Safari/TopSites.plist in system.log. Searches for files on physical hard drive on the machine succeed. Searches for files in home directory do not. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set up a machine with NFS mounted home directories running Mac OS X 10.9 or 10.10 2. Log in as a user with an NFS-mounted home directory 3. Attempt to use Spotlight Expected Results: Spotlight should index the home directory and return results. It worked in Mac OS X 10.8, but appears to be broken in 10.9 on. Actual Results: Spotlight fails for files on NFS-mounted home directory; works for files on hard drive.
