WatchKit: specify tintColor of template images

When I configure an image in an asset catalog as a template image and use that image in a WKInterfaceImage or as a background image in a WKInterfaceGroup the image is rendered in a light blue color. There’s apparently no way to define the tintColor of a template image. I tried the global key color of the Storyboard but it seems to have no effect.
