PHLivePhotoView startPlaybackWithStyle() doesn't start playback

I set a live photo in a PHLivePhotoView, and call startPlaybackWithStyle(.Full), or startPlaybackWithStyle(.Hint), neither of these does anything.

To repro:
Add a UIImageView in storyboard, change its class to PHLivePhotoView
in the view controller implementation, set a live photo to the PHLivePhotoView
invoke startPlaybackWithStyle(.Full)
nothing happens

(however, if I 3D Touch on the photoview, it starts playback)
