Mac OS X 10.11.1: Caching Server and SUS incompatibilities

There are serious incompatibilities when using a Caching Server and a Software Update Server (SUS) on the same network.  In short, OS X 10.11.x clients are unable to properly receive updates from the SUS once the Caching Service is enabled on an OS X Server machine.

Steps to Reproduce:

1.  Enable SUS on OS X Server.
2.  Configure your OS X 10.11.x clients to point to the SUS.
3.  Enable Caching Service on OS X Server.

Expected Results:

OS X clients properly download and install OS X updates through the SUS, while properly receiving cached VPP apps through the Caching Server.

Actual Results:

OS X 10.11.x Clients cannot properly install software updates from the SUS.

Regression:

This issue does not appear to affect OS X 10.10.x.

Notes:

In our environment, this impacts about 800 Macs (and growing).  Please consider addressing this in a future OS X 10.11 update.  Thanks!

Engineering has determined that your bug report (23556998) is a duplicate of another issue (22884622) and will be closed.

The open or closed status of the original bug report your issue was duplicated to appears in the yellow "Duplicate of XXXXXXXX" section of the bug reporter user interface. This section appears near the top of the right column's bug detail view just under the bug number, title, state, product and rank.
