Looking up and data detectors doesn't work consistently

Summary:
Looking up a word, or previewing a link (three finger tap on my computer) doesn't seem to work all the time; often I need to tap a couple of times before anything shows up.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Attempt to look up something by three finger tapping (or using Force Touch)

Expected Results:
The definition/preview comes up immediately on the first try

Actual Results:
It takes a couple of tries

Version:
macOS Sierra 10.12 Beta (16A254g) 

Notes:
Regression from OS X El Capitan, where it worked consistently.

Configuration:
Late 2011 MacBook Pro running macOS Sierra 10.12 Beta (16A254g)
