keyboard almost always appears on wrong side for search

Summary:
When dragging down on the home screen in landscape orientation (tilted up in smart cover for typing) to search the keyboard almost always appears on the right hand side.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start at home screen
2. drag down to open search dialog

Expected Results:
keyboard usable for current orientation

Actual Results:
keyboard appears on right instead of bottom
