Searching files by tag and name only works when searching the tag name first, then adding a filter on the file name.

Intuitively I'd like to do it the other way around, so searching by file name, then filtering by tag.

However, in the popup menu of search criteria, "Tags" isn't listed. I couldn't find it either in the "Others…" dialog.

Comments

Apparently, "Dateietikett" does not correspond 1:1 with "Tags" because it only finds files with a single tag or rather, files that were set with that tag lastly. Tags that were set before another one aren't found using the "Dateietikett" criterion.

"Schlagworte" (not "Schlagwörter"!) seems to be fitting but it lacks the visual tag selector UI. So I have to type the tag name.

All in all, a big mess in my opinion!

So after some back and forth on Twitter, I found out that the problem is actually a (German) localization issue. https://twitter.com/ortwingentz/status/847517166811394048

For whatever reason, Tags are localized as "Dateietikett" in search criteria even though they're localized as "Tags" everywhere else: in the side bar, in View Options ("Cmd J") and Preferences.

Also, tags are (at least for me) not in the default set of search criteria and I have to select it from the huge list of "Other" criteria. Because the list is so huge and has other candidates such as "Schlagworte" and "Schlagwörter" that are completely unrelated, I couldn't find it.

In another note, the Tags selector UI looks very outdated. The shadowed rounded rectangle tag icons don't match the circular tag icons used elsewhere.
