Mac OS X 10.14.4: PrinterProxy crashes when saving a scanned document

Summary:

The scan assistant crashes when scanning a document.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Open the « Printers and scanners » preference pane
2. Clic on the « Scan » tab and open the Scan assistant
3. Wait for the preview to be scanned
4. Select the whole document area, select « PDF » as the output format, and click on « Scan »

Expected Results:

The scanned document is saved as a PDF file.

Actual Results:

The progress bar appears, and the document is scanned–but when the progress bar reaches the end, the app closes suddenly, and no document is saved.

Regression:

This used to work with the same scanner on macOS 10.14.3

Notes:

- Tested on a Samsung M2070 Series scanner
- Same crash occurs when using PNG as the target format
- Same crash occurs when opening PrinterProxy from the Preview app
- Same crash occurs when using either Wifi or USB to connect to the scanner
- Error logs produces these messages:
